Extra flights added to existing routes from Dublin to Los Angeles, Chicago and Orlando
Two new European routes announced to Porto, Portugal and Split, Croatia
Want to ‘party in the city where the heat is on; all night on the beach ‘til the break of dawn’? Welcome to Miami – the newest transatlantic route announced by Aer Lingus today as part of the further expansion of its Long Haul network. From September 2017 Aer Lingus will fly from Dublin direct to Miami, Florida, operating three services per week.
Renowned for its beautiful beaches, art deco architecture and Cuban-inspired cuisine, the ‘Magic City’ of Miami is the newest addition to Aer Lingus’ transatlantic offering. Existing transatlantic routes include Boston, Chicago, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Washington and Toronto from Dublin and Boston and New York from Shannon, as well as new routes to Los Angeles, Newark and Hartford, which commenced this year. The airline will also increase its Los Angeles flight to a daily service for summer 2017, Dublin to Orlando will increase to four times per week, and Chicago will also increase to double daily in the same period.
In addition to its expanded transatlantic network, Aer Lingus is also introducing two new European destinations to its summer 2017 schedule, Porto in Portugal and Split in Croatia and adding 100,000 additional seats to the sun in Europe. The airline’s winter route from Dublin to Fuerteventura will be extended into the 2017 summer schedule.
The expansion comes after a successful year under International Airlines Group (IAG), which also saw Aer Lingus awarded a 4-Star rating from Skytrax, the international air transport rating organisation, making it Ireland’s only airline with such an award and placing it among the top 40 airlines in the world for quality and service.
The growth plan underpins Aer Lingus’ successful strategy of expanding its Dublin Airport base into a major European transatlantic gateway. The convenience of U.S Customs and Border Protection services at Dublin has enhanced the continued growth of Aer Lingus’ Dublin operation as a connecting gateway.
