• Aer Lingus guests worldwide have saved more than €1 million using Pay with Avios
• More than 19,000 transactions using Pay with Avios since launch in March 2019

​06 June 2019: Aer Lingus guests worldwide are making the most of their AerClub membership with a milestone €1 million saved thanks to Pay with Avios. The new payment feature, which gives AerClub members the option to part pay for their flights using Avios accrued through the loyalty programme, launched in March 2019.

Avios is the AerClub rewards currency which members can collect in the air - when booking flights with Aer Lingus and AerClub partner airlines, on the ground – everyday purchases with partners such as SuperValu, Kildare Village and Aer Credit Card in partnership with Bank of Ireland with international hotel stays, car rental and on everyday purchases, and online – with hundreds of retailers accessed via the AerClub eStore. 

In the past three months, more than 19,000 transactions to the combined value of over €1 million have been made on aerlingus.com and on the Aer Lingus mobile app using Pay with Avios. The payment feature is available to all AerClub members, with the average Pay with Avios saving per member being €57 and the largest value saving in a single transaction to date being €8,325.

Pay with Avios is an integrated function in the booking process on aerlingus.com and via the Aer Lingus mobile app. When guests log in and book their flights, they will be offered money-off options determined by their Avios balance. The money-off amount reduces the total basket cost which includes the cost of flights and any Aer Lingus related add-ons such as priority boarding, checked baggage or seat selection.

AerClub members will collect Avios each time they buy a flight with Aer Lingus and its partner airlines - British Airways and United Airlines.

AerClub has teamed up with a number of partners to ensure members can collect Avios in lots of ways – weekly shop at SuperValu, retail therapy at Kildare Village, a getaway to the five-star Merrion Hotel or a chauffeur with Devine’s Chauffeur Service for a special occasion, together with other retail partners such as Holidays with Aer Lingus, and hotel providers such as Agoda, Kaligo and Rocketmiles.

Online shopping via the AerClub eStore also allows members to collect Avios with over 100 top name Irish and international brands.

 

Aer Credit Card

Aer Lingus recently teamed up with Bank of Ireland to launch Aer Credit Card. The Aer Credit Card offers all the convenience of a regular credit card but also features unique travel rewards for consumers. In addition, cardholders can collect 1 Avios for every €1 spent on Aer Lingus products and services and 1 Avios for every €4 spent on all other transactions.
